Wow, I love this idea! I can totally imagine Johnny having undiagnosed dyslexia or some other learning disorder, but Sid not caring enough to get him tested, and subsequently helped when he was a kid.

And Sid knows being unable to read is a sore spot for Johnny, but still brings it up often to mock him. So it’s just this shameful secret that Johnny does everything he can to hide, continuing into his adult life.

Maybe Daniel sees Sid at the country club, and Sid brings up his step son, who is so stupid he can’t even read, only ever good at karate and nothing else... and Daniel connects the dots
