Due to the fact that their adults get fucking insane and overreact to shit the Miagi-Fang students start keeping secrets. Particularly when Cobra Kai get nasty and start targeting them when they're alone and can't defend against a group.

Kids get hurt and
Try to deal with it themselves to avoid warfare between the adults and major repercussions like murder or criminal charges.

Eventually it gets discovered when Miguel steals antibiotics from Carmen's work to treat an injury.

The grown ups start acting like grown ups.
