Right? I love Ralph Macchio, don't get me wrong (he'll always be the OG Karate Kid). His relationship with Miyagi as Daniel was always super sweet and endearing and I'm glad to see Cobra Kai has found a way to pay tribute to that deeply meaningful bond they shared. Buuuttt in terms of pure karate badassery? Well, Hillary Swank has always been excellent in action scenes and as Julie, her fighting skills were pretty solid on-screen where Ralph Macchio's could be a little shakier when he was younger and required a bit more of your suspension of disbelief (reprising the role for Cobra Kai and I have to say Ralph Macchio's fight scenes have improved a great deal, especially in his fight scenes with William Zabka; you can now believe these two are of similar skill-levels where before William Zabka's skills outshone Ralph Macchio's in a pretty obvious way and that could make their fight scenes seem visually awkward at times).

I studied martial arts (a different style than karate though) from the time I was young and I have to say her fight scenes were impressive (her kicks were actually something else). I'd love to see Hillary Swank reprise the character for the series but until/unless that happens I'm so down for her showing up at Miyagi-Do and Daniel meeting another of Miyagi's students (remember Miyagi gave her that training to fight blind, so there's another Miyagi-Do skill for him to learn from her like he learned the nerve numbing technique from Chozen) and Johnny just being completely into this super hot, badass karate babe.

If they get Hillary Swank to reprise her role that would be everything. I loved all the Karate Kid movies but Julie Fields allowed me to see myself in one of those movies as a girl who just really loved those kinds of action/martial arts movies and usually had to imagine what they'd be like with a female lead. My younger brother also had a mad crush on her. Lol! It's hard to imagine Johnny wouldn't once he saw what a badass she was.
