So, we all agree that Daniel’s biggest issue is repression, right? Like, kid him was so open, but a lot of shit happened and he just buried everything and became a suburban asshole. (I mean that lovingly.) I want Amanda getting fed up with some of Daniel’s control freak abandonment issues (his hard time with Sam outgrowing things, making new friends, changing, etc; wanting so much for Anthony to do things with him; his weird nostalgia feud with his high school bully), and insisting they talk. And the trauma that comes out? Is not the tournament or Kreese or Silver or Johnny. It’s when Mr Miyagi told him he was leaving the house in Okinawa to Yukie and the house in Cali to Daniel, the idea that the person he loved most would leave him. And while he knows how important the village was to Mr Miyagi, he knows that he didn’t die there, he’s still sort of that teenage kid going: “I don’t want the house and the truck! I want you!”

Catharsis and understanding ensue! Fluff, happiness, good emotional relations!

Do we know how Miyagi died? I don't think its mentioned.

I don’t think we do know! That’s upsetting. But he definitely lives past the KK2 scene OP is referencing tho
