Daniel is the cop who has to transport criminal Johnny Lawrence to testify against his boss, John Kreese. It's a long journey, and the two bond. Daniel particularly feels things he shouldn't feel, especially with a wife back home. Of course, the twist is that Amanda was always Kreese's best agent, so she betrays them both.

Bonus points if it ends with Amanda/Johnny/Daniel, but unfortunately the old cliché tropes tend to be more misogynistic than that.
