He's a master at hiding it, but Johnny can't read very well at all. He's gotten by in life, but just barely. Daniel eventually figures it out and sets out to help Johnny learn how. Maybe he's successful or maybe not - the reason behind Johnny not reading can be up to you whether it's a learning disability that he just needs help with or a brain injury he can't move past.
