Sam Robby and Miguel are abducted and held captive for a few days by a group of thugs. Every couple of hours one of them is taken from their cell and tortured/raped/beaten (up to author how dark you wanna go.) Then thrown back in with the other 2.
After they're rescued the 3 of them are terrified to let each other out of their sight. All they know is that terrible things happen when they're separated. They literally cling to one another and scream if anyone tries to separate them.
They insist on sleeping in the same bed, showering together, holding hands all the time. Nothing sexual about it though. Its just the only thing that makes them feel safe.
The upshot is that the adults have to move in together for a while to help the kids heal.
