I have gone through the entire pairing tag on AO3 and nobody has written Daniel in full drag, and I just... I need it.
Like, okay, picture this: a few years after their messy prom breakup, Ali and Daniel mend their friendship, and he confides in her that he really really likes some girly stuff and she helps him get in touch with his feminine side. She does his hair and make up and takes him to a college party all dolled up, and he has a great time, it's amazing, he makes out with dudes and no one bats an eye because he passes (at least in bad lighting with everyone a little drunk). So, it becomes A Thing. And at some point, while at a party in full drag, he bumps into Johnny, who is waaaaay into "Dani/Danielle." Liek, crazy into, can't stop staring, clearly wants to fuck her in his car. He clocks the New Jersey accent but just makes a joke about how it seems like everyone from Jersey is always ready to fight when Daniel gets defensive, and he pretty clearly doesn't realize that this is *Daniel LaRusso* in a dress with a stuffed bra. And since he's trying to impress Danielle and not beat the shit out of Daniel, Daniel finds himself (grudgingly) reciprocating the attraction. Johnny asks for her number, and Daniel hedges that Johnny can't call her, but she could call him. Maybe.
+1,000 bonus points if they go from fooling around to dating without Johnny finding out "Danielle's" secret. +10,000 bonus points if, when Johnny finds out Danielle is really Daniel, he's *even more into it.*
I would prefer if Daniel isn't, like, trans? It's the late '80s, he may or may not even know what bisexuality is, he still identifies as a man (and feels defensive about his masculinity) when he's not dressed up, but he also likes wearing lacy lingerie and lipstick and... just sometimes being a girl and kissing boys at parties. (so I guess maybe he'd be genderfluid but totally not have the vocabulary/academic understanding of what that is, which is why he's drawn to drag, because it's all about playing with gender and identity and when you're in drag you are whatever your drag persona says they are).
