I’m the anon you replied to and yeah. It bothers me that this fandom has jumped on the drug cartel thing. In the show, all Carmen says is that her ex husband was “a very bad man” and that they had to get far away from him. That could mean so many things, it doesn’t just mean “drug cartel.” I’m not a Latina, but this whole consensus about Miguel’s father being a narcos really bothers me. The man simply could’ve been a shitty dude with a little gang he hung around (hence his enemies Carmen mentioned). I don’t really see the point of writing this fic for that reason alone (the message it would send).

And I do understand the concept of having a Dark!Character, but I really don’t want this precedent to be set. I would rather celebrate a character who gets ignored instead of change everything about them. There are so many fics with Johnny and Daniel, so I think it’s fine to explore dark versions of them, but when there’s so little written about Carmen, it kind of makes me feel sad to think that this is the kind of representation people want to give to such a neglected and underrated character. It’s like she would become a stereotype instead of someone complex and well-rounded.

So what I really really REALLY WANT is for Carmen and Daniel to become close friends upon realizing that Carmen’s ex husband is none other than Terry Silver. I want them both talking shit about him, I want Carmen and Daniel to help each other through the hell he put them both through, and I want them to just be every bit as genuinely friendly with each other as Johnny and Amanda are (both in canon and fanon).

++ Carmen’s perspective on Sam and Miguel dating again

Daniel and Johnny are running the dojo together. Daniel and Amanda are amicably divorced, Johnny and Carmen got into a nasty fight have been broken up for about a month.

Daniel can’t deny how hot Carmen is every time she comes to pick up Miguel and starts casually flirting with it. We all know Daniel could be smooth with women. Carmen finds that she actually enjoys something that’s uncomplicated and fun.

Cue Johnny finding out and losing his shit. At first he wants to break up the dojo but realizes that will just drive Carmen further into Daniel’s arms. So he starts trying to one-up Daniel, and they get into an intense competition over Carmen.

Until they all realize they can share, and everyone wins.

LOVE THIS. I can totally see this happening in the show tho, with Silver maneuvering into Johnny's good graces by pretending to be just like how he was back in KK3, and Daniel being like, don't fall for this man's tricks!

At the roller rink in season 2 episode 8, after Miguel and Sam have their failed talk at the skate counter, Sam seemingly says sorry randomly as she's tying her skates. She's saying this because she thought it was Miguel coming up to her again and she felt bad about how their conversation at the counter went, not realizing it was actually Robby. Keep in mind basically every step of the way in Season 2, Sam was still holding on to hope that Miguel was still good and they could at least be friends again. So when she realized she blew off her one chance of reconnecting with him she was upset and that's why she apologized when Robby came up to her: because she thought it was Miguel coming up to talk to her again. But what if it had been Miguel who had come up to her again?

You know how Daniel fought Kreese for Johnny at the end of S3?

Yeah, well, for poetic symmetry I think we need Johnny to lay waste to Terry Silver.
